Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) has quietly become one of Southeast Asia’s go-to destinations for bespoke tailoring, offering exceptional craftsmanship, quick turnaround and competitive prices. Ideal for expats or travellers seeking a tailored suit with serious swagger, HCMC delivers quality you’ll be proud to wear back home.
And if bespoke isn’t quite your speed, check out our roundup of modern Vietnamese fashion labels that are redefining style in the region.

This guide is split into two parts, where firstly we dive into a description of your first bespoke experience, useful for those who are initiating themselves in the world of custom-made suits, followed by a curated list of the 10 top‑rated tailors.

From Fabric to Fit: Your First HCMC Bespoke Suit Experience

The Journey Begins: Consultation & Vision

Your first step into the world of bespoke tailoring starts with a consultation, a chance to articulate your style, whether you’re drawn to the crisp structure of a British cut, the lean elegance of Italian slim fits, or the comfortable drape of American tailoring. Tailors in Ho Chi Minh City are generally familiar with all three, and can guide you based on body type, climate, and occasion.

Fabric selection is where the experience becomes tactile. You’ll encounter a range of materials from lightweight linens ideal for Southeast Asian’s tropical heat, to luxurious Italian wools from mills like Zegna and Loro Piana. Most tailors offer swatch books in-house, but the more budget-savvy often make a detour to An Đông Market in District 5, a bustling textile haven where you can bargain for premium cloth at a fraction of boutique prices.

Making the Cut: Measurements & First Fitting

Once you’ve chosen your fabric and design details (think lapel width, button stance, lining, vents), the tailor will take a comprehensive set of measurements. This is more than just shoulder width and inseam: it involves posture alignment, arm rotation, seat curve, and more. Based on these numbers, a custom pattern or “block” is drafted for your body alone.

At your first fitting, you’ll try on a loosely constructed suit, so the tailor can assess how well the silhouette matches your frame. Don’t be alarmed by the pins; this is where artistry and adjustment come into play.

The Refinement Stage

The second fitting is where everything tightens up, literally and figuratively. This is when the tailor refines finer details like sleeve pitch, trouser break, and collar balance. A third fitting may follow, especially if you’re requesting a more complex build or if the initial adjustments require further fine-tuning. At high-end tailors, this stage is seen not just as quality control, but a hallmark of mastery.

Final Collection & The Details That Matter

When your suit is ready for pick-up, take time to inspect the final product. Are the seams even? Are the buttons securely stitched and properly aligned? Is the lining taut and clean? A quality suit is defined by such detailing: working buttonholes, bar-tacks, hand-finished edges. If anything feels off, reputable tailors are happy to make final tweaks without extra charge.

Aftercare: Measurements & Modifications

One of the underrated perks of good tailors in HCMC is that they archive your measurements for future orders. That means you can reorder or request slight alterations months later, even from abroad. Some even offer digital consultations if you’re planning to re-up your wardrobe from Singapore or elsewhere.

What You Can Expect: Budget & Timing

Tailoring in Ho Chi Minh City offers exceptional value. A two-piece suit made with mid-range wool typically costs between USD 200 and 400. For higher-end pieces crafted from premium Italian or English fabrics, expect to spend upwards of USD 600. The sweet spot for many is around USD 250–300 for solid craftsmanship and quality cloth.

Turnaround time is generally 3 to 5 days for standard orders, though many tailors offer expedited 48-hour service for an additional fee. It’s best to plan fittings early in your trip so there’s time for necessary adjustments before departure.

As for fabrics, it’s tempting to save on tailoring and spend more on textiles, and in many cases that’s a smart strategy. High-end cloth transforms even a modest cut into something striking, while a poorly chosen fabric will dull even the most precise tailoring.

Choosing the Right Tailor

Not all tailors are created equal so it’s advisable to look for those with a track record. We suggest Google and TripAdvisor reviews with ratings above 4.5, ideally accompanied by recent photos and mentions of good communication. English fluency, while not universal, is common in the better-known shops and makes a big difference during consultations.

Transparency is also key. The best tailors will walk you through pricing, fitting stages, fabric options, and timelines upfront. Many also offer free alterations post-purchase and clear policies on emergencies or last-minute changes.

Lastly, consider whether you prefer the warmth of a family-run atelier, where relationships and craftsmanship go hand in hand; or the polish of boutique chains, which may offer consistency but sometimes lack the personal touch that makes bespoke tailoring truly special.

Below we created a list of the top 10 tailors in Ho Chi Minh City that fit these parameters.

Summer is a popular time to visit Santorini, when the waters are ideal for swimming and with little to no rainfall. Meander through the iconic whitewashed buildings, interspersed with blue-domed churches in Oia, and take in the views of the caldera from the island’s volcanic past. You can even go on a guided cruise to the surrounding lava islands or go off the beaten path to explore Thirassia Island for its abandoned villages and secret coves. Get a glimpse of Greece during the Bronze Age civilisation at archaeological sites like Akrotiri, then go to one of the rooftop bars or restaurants and immerse in the magical glow of sunset.

Alaska, USA

Not ready to brace for the chill in Alaska? Then, visit during summer when temperatures average around 15°C. It may not be the most budget-friendly season, but it certainly stands as an ideal time for exploration, especially if you are thinking of venturing through the expansive landscapes of Denali National Park or Glacier Bay National Park. Besides hiking and biking on the roads, you can even hike across glaciers to experience an otherworldly terrain. The Matanuska Glacier in the Mat-Su Valley is an excellent place to start. Take a day cruise around Juneau, Ketchikan, and Gustavus, and you might even spot some whales!

Asia is a land of magic, mystery, delicious food, intriguing cultures, kaleidoscopic cities, and outrageous landscapes. Not only is it one of the most incredible places on earth; it’s one of the few areas left where visitors can still get a real ‘bang for their buck’, so to speak. Eating other worldly street food costs mere pennies and excursions that would break the bank in many other places are absolutely affordable, so the question really must be asked; what are you waiting for?

If you’ve been thinking about embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon that will remain with you for the rest of your days, then Asia is probably the perfect place for it although you won’t be alone; according to the latest travel statistics, the number of people visiting Asia has almost reached pre-pandemic levels and there is no sign of this slowing down. So now would be the time to book your dream honeymoon; the only decision left to make is where to go.

Asia actually accounts for roughly 30% of the earth’s total land mass and contains around 60% of the earth’s population. It’s a staggeringly large area and one of the most diverse of all offering an incredible melting pot of cultures, foods, people and beliefs. How then, is one supposed to take on the troubling task of planning the perfect, ultimate honeymoon in such a vast and varied area?

Well we’re here to help with this inspirational list of incredible, unmissable, jaw-droppingly stunning locations for your once-in-a-lifetime Asian honeymoon; visit one, or all on a mega trip, just make sure you don’t miss out!

Singapore: A Taste Of The Highlife

Singapore is one of the most unique and exciting cities in the world, the modern and stylish city revolves around a particularly Asian ethos making for an intriguing adventure in the city’s streets. If you’re looking for a taste of luxury mixed with some of the very best shopping on the face of the earth, with a bit of nightlife and some fantastic food thrown into the mix, then Singapore is the place for you.

It’s home to high-tech skyscrapers that seem to defy gravity, excellent food selected from around the world and one of the most stunning city skylines on the planet. It’s a city famed for its after sunset atmosphere and it never really seems to switch off. Light shows and stunning colours illuminate the night sky and somehow the streets get even busier after dark.

Utilising the city’s central location as a starting point for an epic adventure is a great way to go, enjoy the luxury and romance at the city’s heart, or, if you fancy some peace and solitude, you could even explore the idyllic Orient waters on a cruise with your new life partner.

Cambodia: For The Culture & History Fanatics

Cambodia is steeped in history and wonderful culture, and it’s arguably one of the most underrated countries in Southeast Asia. If you’re a fan of warm weather, stunning beaches with warm waters, jungle adventures, incredible ancient history and wonderful people then this might just be your perfect honeymoon destination.

cambodia

Cambodia is home to the mystical and ethereal Angkor Wat, one of the most famous temples in the world, the mighty Mekong River, which is the only river in the world to change its flow seasonally, and of course endless white sand beaches fronted by lush jungles. You’ll find whatever level of luxury you desire in this stunning country, and you’ll get to experience the famed ‘buzz’ of Asian life in its fabulous cities.

Vietnam: The Blend Of Natural Beauty & City Life

Vietnam has long been a stronghold for those looking to escape the Western world, it’s been a backpackers’ respite, but don’t let that deter you. It’s one of the most biologically diverse places on earth, and one of the most impossibly beautiful locations you could imagine. It would be impossible to run through all the incredible things to see in this country, but here are some of the unmissable hot spots:

The famous city of Hanoi is the perfect spot for foodies, as it’s packed with excellent restaurants, and hosts the unique blend of Vietnamese and French cultures. You’ll also find some of the country’s most impressive historical sights and enjoy the world’s finest Pho here. Halong Bay is a must see with its rugged limestone towers shooting from the sea. It is truly one of the most magnificent sights to see. In the south you have the uproariously cool Ho Chi Minh City and some stunning National Parks. Not to mention, the hundreds of miles of uninterrupted coastlines and white sand beaches.

Maldives: Home To Paradisiacal Islands

The Maldives is a location we are all somewhat familiar with; we’ve all seen the pictures of the floating wooden huts attached to an impossibly beautiful white sand beach with an ornate wooden pier, it’s the height of luxury.

maldives

There are in fact hundreds of islands that stretch for hundreds of miles through the heart of the Indian Ocean, with shallow waters and strong sunshine. These coral islands are home to stunning aquatic life and dense forest. Many of the islands are uninhabited so if you are looking for the ultimate relaxation and luxury beachside experience then chartering a boat and exploring some of the paradisiacal islands would be pretty hard to beat.

Bali: Affordable Luxury Living & Adventure Activities

In recent times, Bali has become more and more popular, and for very good reason. It’s always been a popular spot for Australian tourists and has built on this foundation to become one of the most desirable places to visit in Asia. It’s home to the most gorgeous beachside accommodations and luxury villas. There is also an abundance of incredibly well priced and delicious food.

The island’s history is fascinating and it has become a global centre for spirituality and inner peace. There are hundreds of temples and sacred sights dotted around the island, as well as gorgeous yoga retreats, spas and healing centres for the soul. It’s an island of peace and quiet recreation which sits in stark contrast to the bustling and lively streets of the villages and towns. There is great nightlife and surprisingly good shopping in Kuta and Denpasar, and of course, miles and miles of beautiful beaches. If you fancy taking up a new skill, Bali is also famous for its surf scene offering a great range of waves and some incredibly beautiful spots.

The Perfect Asian Honeymoon

Hopefully this list provides you with some excellent inspiration for the most incredible Asian honeymoon in this glorious part of the world. If you’re not able to pick just one destination for you, remember to not just limit yourself to just one trip! But to keep adding to your bucket list for the ultimate experience. Whichever you may end up choosing, we can guarantee that you’ll end up making memories that will last for the rest of your lives together.

The literal heart of the city, Ho Chi Minh City‘s District 1 is bustling – cluttered even – with historical monuments and tasty street food sitting cheek by jowl with modern office buildings, fancy restaurants, and cocktail bars. Having stayed at another hotel for a couple of nights before moving to Fusion Suites Saigon within District 1, the difference in feeling upon arriving at the leafy side street the all-suite hotel was situated at, was palpable and a very pleasant surprise.

With trees as tall as 20 metres lining the street, arriving at Fusion Suites Saigon definitely refreshed our mood for travel and new experiences. The first good impression was that the hotel design team extended the hotel lobby to the pavement in a way, through floor-to-ceiling glass windows and an al fresco terrace lounge. To us, this brings elements of a resort to a city in that laidback and casual way that we like.

Location & Space

The glass doors open into a high ceilinged and airy space, where we were welcomed by what the Vietnamese hotel brand calls Fusionistas – the more down-to-earth option to butlers and concierges. Two things that we noticed quite quickly, that are also hallmarks of the hotel design, is the heavy use of wood in its build, as well as wall art depicting locals selling all kinds of goods at the market – a connection to Vietnam’s street culture that anyone can enjoy.

Despite its prime location in District 1, Fusion Suites Saigon is, in our opinion, the most perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City. Overall, it feels like an oasis even thought it’s steps from one of Ho Chi Minh City’s oldest park, and an easy walk to attractions like Ben Thanh Market, War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Palace, and the Notre Dame Cathedral.

Rooms & Suites

Corner Suite

A. small property at just 70 plus rooms and suites, Fusion Suites Saigon’s entry category is the Single Room at 25 square metres (269 square feet) while Suites start at 32 square metres (344 square feet), available in twin or king sized beds. However, for a romantic city getaway, we highly recommend their spacious Corner Suites (42 square metres, 452 square feet) that only come with king beds, as it comes with more space and additional glass floor to ceiling windows to take in the surrounding greenery and vibrant cityscape.

Corner Suite Bathroom

The open-plan living space with a kitchenette equipped with mini-bars and microwaves also sports wood on the ceiling for a homey vibe – something we greatly appreciated when food delivery is affordable and easily accessible, should one wish to enjoy the room. Plus, with the ceiling fan and wooden flooring, walking around barefooted in the room rings in another point for homeliness for the Southeast Asians. For those travelling with kids, Fusion Suites Saigon has Family Suite rooms at the same size as the Corner Suite, that caters to the littlies with an additional room with a bunk bed

Hammock Bathtub

Another noteworthy point about Fusion Suites Saigon (and definitely worth the splurge) is the bathrooms. While not overly huge, our Corner Suite ensuite bathroom had separate spaces for the toilet, rain shower, and hammock-inspired bathtubs. Compared to the usual sunken or floor level vessels, the hammock tubs might look abit suspicious suspended, but we can assure you it’s comfortable. And it holds weight well enough, such that we had a bath every night to wind down.

Facilities & Amenities

While Fusion Suites Saigon is not a five-star hotel in the traditional sense, guests can look forward to amenities like in-room dining, an all-day dining space Fresh, and a in-house Maia Spa. As we were in Ho Chi Minh mainly to check out the food and beverage scene, we didn’t get to indulge in spa treatments that started from US$25 for a 30-minute head and shoulder therapy.

Fresh RestaurantWith their in-house all-day diner Fresh Restaurant, you’ll never be hungry at Fusion Suites Saigon. Guests have the option of having breakfast in their suites between 6am to 10.30am daily, but we chose to enjoy ours in the restaurant given the more extensive buffet line. Besides continental delights like viennoiserie, cold cuts, and salads, local delights such as Pho and Bánh Truyền Thống – Vietnamese rice cakes with pork and seafood – made the all-you-can-eat spread. If you’re in a hurry, grab your coffee mang di (to-go) and get a 15% discount.

Designed to bring peace and harmony to the modern urban adventurer, Fusion Suites Saigon is really the perfect home base amidst the chaos of Ho Chi Minh City’s District One. With superior comfort, head-turning design, and down-to-earth luxury,  we can’t wait for our next visit to another property with the hospitality brand.

Fusion Suites Saigon is located at 3-5, Đ. Sương Nguyệt Anh, Street, Quận 1, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh 71000, Vietnam. Rates start from US$120 per night.
